I live alone and have been growing my hair long for the past few years. But the water here is so bad that I've been having terrible hair loss. My maid has been telling me to oil my hair regularly and this weekend, I finally gave in and told her I'll oil my hair.
ReplyDeleteLast Saturday, I decided to apply pure coconut oil (homemade since my family has a farm in Kerala) and the maid walked in while I was doing so. She told me I was doing it wrong. She asked if I need help. Before I knew it, I was sitting on a short stool in front of her. She sat on the chair I was sitting earlier and poured the oil on to my parted hair. I felt it was too much but she insisted my hair needs to be heavily oiled. After oiling my hair, she tied my hair which reached midback (BSL)into a bun. All the while, she kept saying that boys don't know how to maintain hair and my hair has potential to be so thick that girls will be jealous seeing it.
The day after that, on Sunday, the first thing the maid did after she walked into the house was tell me to sit on the chair so that she can check on my hair. She combed my hair thoroughly parted it in the middle and told me to sit while she gets the oil. She came back with the coconut oil and emptied the bottle on my head. She spent the next 15 minutes massaging the oil into my hair. after oiling, she combed my hair again and asked me if she should just tie a bun like yesterday. I told her to do as she feels as she knows better about hair maintenance and care. "Do what you think is best" is what I literally told her. She nodded and braided my hair into a single, tight braid. Her daughter walked in to my house as she was finishing braiding my hair. She had a slight smile on her face and said "your hair looks beautiful". After braiding my hair, the maid quickly finished the rest of the work in my house. As she was leaving, she said "The hairstyle suits you. We'll try different style next time."

ReplyDeleteThanks, Pooja. She did a wonderful job. Yesterday, when she came in she was quite angry that I had left the kitchen in a mess. Friday, evening, I decided to cook an elaborate meal for myself. I ended up using almost every single utensil and left a pile of cutting and peeling by the sink. She got even more disappointed when she found that I had forgotten to buy the oil for the hair. She cleaned the house and left saying that she'll be back in 5 minutes.
ReplyDeleteAs she had said, she came back in a few minutes. She made me sit down on the stool again and kept scolding me for making a mess in the kitchen. She kept saying that if she didn't know better, she'd think a little kid lives alone in the house.
She parted my hair in the middle as she always does and started pouring the oil. She massaged it in and poured more oil. She like last week asked what hairstyle I want. I like last week told her to do as she pleased. She smirked and said since I was acting like a little girl, I should have an appropriate hairstyle. She took the hair that was parted to the left and braided it as tightly as possible. She then did the same. As she got up, she took both braids and moved it to my front. I then realized that not only did she give me twin braids, she tied the ends with red ribbons. I guess she got the ribbons when she stepped out to get the oil.
That must have looked cute �� Two perfectly oiled twin braids. I think she's pampering you as much as she scolds you! Wonderful massage, following by combing and styling your hair. She's making sure that your hair turn out as good as a woman's hair with all the care she's giving.

ReplyDeleteHi Neetu, Does the maid oil your hair from Friday to Sunday everyday ? You should get your oiled twice daily during weekend to ensure proper growth. After she ties tight braid, have her coat it with castor oil as it helps in growing of hair. Ask her if she would oil your hair daily too. My hair is oiled daily with warm coconut oil and it helps more than just doing on weekends. Let me know what you think.

ReplyDeleteAfter a weekend of heavy oiling, I convinced her of two day of no oiling. Smitha said both days I have to comb her hair and style it. I agreed. On Monday we both washed our hair and kept it dry. She made me comb her hair for a long time and make a nice thick braid. I comp!emented how nice and thick her hair looks dry. She said a flower would look good too on it, so I went and got some flowers and put one on side of her hair and some pins in the front. Then she combed my hair and made a braid too. Later when her sister came and was surprised to see no oil our hair, I told her the plan and she was not happy. She herself had nice oiled hair which was made tied in a thick bun. She said she can't wait to see our hair heavily oiled and told me that in weekend the group will teach me a lesson and smirked. I wonder what she meant Pooja. On Tuesday as usual we combed each other hair and made tight french braid. Smitha smelled my hair while make french braid and said can't wait to oil it soon. Next day maids sister came and made Smitha sit between her legs and started oiling. Smitha said oil being poured made her feel so good. Smitha was being heavily oiled and massaged. Her hair looked so shiny with oil. Her sister made a high ponytail and combed it tightly with a scrunchy. She left it open and put hair in front. She made me smell Smitha hair and said hair should always be like this. Then she ordered me to sit in front while she tightly combed my hair and made middle parting. Then she poured a cup of coconut oil and massaged it. I must say it was a great feeling of oil being poured. Then both took turns in oiling and combing my hair and same high pony tail was made. Both of us had hair in front. Then our hair was coated with jasmine oil to smell good. Bobby pins were put in front to make hair tight and in place. Now all of us are heavily oiled. Then in the morning you can comb your hair back tightly and just take a high pony tail and put your hair through a nice colourful scrunchie. Take some oil in your palms and coat the pony to make it look sleeker. Thats it!

DeleteUse a nice smelling jasmine oil and get oil put properly to coat each strange and make it sleek but not so heavily. When you take high pony it stays in place and is away from your body so your shirt won't get stained at all. When you sit on a chair just take your pony in front if you wish and you will keep getting the sweet smelling jasmine fragrance. I also keep twirling my pony out of habit and the hair feels so smooth as it keeps slipping between my fingers. Midway through my work day I just comb again and take a high pony once more so it looks super neat and sleek again

DeleteOn Tuesday, as usual, the maid came and oiled my hair. I told her about oiling it twice on weekends. She said she'll try to come in the evening as well. This time when she asked how to tie my hair, I told her if she knew how to french braid it. I showed her a picture of what it looks like and she said she knew how to do it and quickly french braided my hair.
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly, she came in the evening again. This time she had a packet in her hand. She looked like she was dressed for the festivel and had a bright orange saree and lots of flowers on her well-oiled hair. She asked me to sit down on the chair. I did as asked and she undid the french braid. She combed my hair again, poured a little more oil, and recombed my hair and then tied it into a bun. She told me to change into one of the kurtas she has washed and ironed the day before. I asked if she had a preference. She responded orange. However odd her request was, I didn't want to offend her as she is so helpful and kind. So, I changed into the kurta and sat back down on the chair. She undid the bun, recombed the hair and started to braid it. I teasingly asked her why she isn't asking what style I want this time. She smirked and said that for what she has planned, only one style would work. after braiding my hair, she opened the packet which was on the couch behind me. She then proceeded to put pins in my hair which I thought at the moment was so that everything stays in place. And I could feel as if she was putting something on my shoulder but I couldn't see what it was. Every time I try to move my head, she shouted at me to look forward. Finally, she said she's finished and without missing a beat, she said the festivities will start at the temple behind my apartment complex any minute now and that she wants me to come.
I told her I wanted to see what she did to my hair first but she insisted it was nothing but appropriate for the festivities. So I was forced to go down without even getting a look. I could feel all eyes on me but couldn't do anything.
Just as everything was starting, I got a call from the office that I need to look over a few documents that need to be sent in a few hours time. So I went back home. The first thing I did when I entered my home was look in the mirror. Boy, was I a sight to see. Not only did I have heavily-oiled braided hair, I also had a massive garland of orange and white flowers pinned to it.
Hi Pooja, Sweta here, Nice to meet u. I am glad to know u also like daily oiling and maintain a good routine. I have hip long hair which is oiled daily by my maid. My mother too oils everyday. Since we come from a conservative family oiling is a ritual. How long is ur hair. ? My maid also has amazing long hair which she oils daily and then oils our hair. I like to style my oiled hair too and fish braid is one of my favorites. I like to put it front and play with it.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to read about guys getting their hair oiled heavily and have strict maids who maintain the routine. I have a younger brother who I wish would get his hair oiled too. My mother isn't strict with him. He has great hair but I feel using products is not good. Our maid also tells him to get regular hair oiling but doesn't listen. Any advice, Pooja. It would be nice to see all with heavily oiled hair in the house.

Hi, Sweta, the coconut oil I use is made more or less at home. My estate has a few hundred coconut trees. the coconuts are dried and sent to my mill. The mill extracts the oil. I keep a few litres and sell everything else. The advantage is that it is the best quality available.

DeleteThat's do well described Neetu. I am sure you must have looked really well dressed and really pretty with heavily oiled and braided hair with flowers for dassera. No wonder people were looking at you to admire your oiled braid. I think you should start oiling regularly now. Do it yourself I weekdays. I am sure you will manage well and a nice high sleek pony or pinned up bun will look great at work too. Just go for it!

I really take care of my hair from childhood both my mother and maid always oiled it heavily so my hair would grow long and strong. As Diwali is near lot of things going around in the house. Yesterday while getting my hair oiled, I was talking to the maid about getting my brother hair being heavily oiled. She said she can't wait to oil his hair heavily with tel mixed with castor oil and do champi. Then while she was braiding my hair and coating it with castor oil, she said that today mother told her to clean guestroom as Grandmother is coming to stay. She said she will talk to Grandmother as she also strict about oiled hair and my brother cannot say no to her. What do u think Pooja ? Hope the plan works so all with heavily oiled hair today hopefully

That's a perfect idea Sweta. I am sure you all will have heavily oiled hair today. I just finished my Sunday morning oiling. Bought a new Ayurveda oil called iraya. It's amazing. Superb smelling and filled with the goodness of sesame and coconut oil with different herbs and spices. My waist length hair is coated from root to tip with the ayurvedic oil and the sweet smell of it is all over my room. Now my maid is just gliding the comb on my hair and it feels so nice. Telling her to do a nice french braid for me as I have to go out for lunch. I have a totally indian look today with a nice fitted salwar, jhumka earings, bindi and bangles. She just finished the french braid and I can't help but admire myself in the mirror with my braid in front. The fragrance is just fabulous. I love getting a massage done after my morning bath. So refreshing before going out of going to work. Oiled hair looks so nice and neat. I can't imagine my day going well without this start!!
ReplyDeleteHi Pooja, Ayurveda oil must have felt so good with morning massage and neat combed hair. I must try it too. Right now hair is new heavily oiled after evening session and braided in a thick loose style, not too tight. I have it it front of me and like to play with it. My grandmother arrived just before lunchtime. After lunch maid was combing grandmother hair when she told about the issue. She said not to worry as he would have his hair oiled today. Later after grandmother had her hair oiled and combed, she called my brother and told him to sit with her. He sat in front of her. She said how dry his hands and hair look. She took some coconut oil and massaged his hands. While massaging she also commented about his dry hair and told the maid to bring mixture and oil it nicely. He couldn't say no signs maid bought a tall stool and sat behind him with her LEDs on both sides. She took a large comb and pulled hair all the way back. After combing and hair in place, she took bowl and poured the oil in a circular motion on head from the middle. I could see how happy she was to see dry oiled being made wet with oil. What do u think Pooja.? Some oil dripped on face which grandmother said not to remove as it will be massage later. The maid then started champi and started tapping the hair and I could her the chapp chapp sound which felt so good. Later after a good massage, maid made sure each strand of hair was nice oiled and again pulled oiled hair all the way to the back. His look so well oiled and shiny. Then with her fingers she created a middle parting in front . Then she got so e castor oil and coated the hair and then massaged his face with oil. He looked so different with oiled hair. My grandmother told him to get his hair oiled everyday and gave the responsibility to me and maid. The maid said after dinner again comb and oil his hair. As grandmother is around I am sure he will be getting hair oiled everyday. She even told my mother to be strict with him where oiling is concerned. Even my mother complemented the oiled look. Now all of us have heavily oiled hair under one roof.

Hi Pooja, I forgot to ask what kind of routine should we follow with him. Oiling everyday or alternate day. Maid suggested everyday twice oiling and washing hair alternate day. My mother like the oiled look so much that she said not to cut hair and let it grow, as oiled look suits him.:))

ReplyDeleteMy mother came in lounge with oil bottle comb n a towel.n call my name loudly. ..I knw y she was calling so I didn't respond to her...thn she came to my room n said why are u nt listening to me. ..I didn't reply to her so she catch my pony tail n drag me to lounge and make me sit between her legs n tightly wrapped her legs around me so I can't move it was hurting me n I m saying tht leave me but she was nt listening to me ..then she opened my ponytail put th cloth at my back n started combing my hairs. ..thn started putting oil in my hairs directly from th bottle in the middle parting and do chap chap thn oil my hairs in length and started massaging my hairs pulling my hairs badly n it was hurting a lot but she don't care :(
Hi Nikita. I don't believe anyone should be forced or hurt in any way to oil their hair. It's a choice thing so if you don't like it then explain to your mother that you don't. Having said that parents are always thinking the best for their children and getting your hair oiled is seriously good for you.
ReplyDeletePlease try once to get your hair oiled with a proper massage from your mother willingly and lovingly. Go to her yourself and tell her you want to get your hair oiled, combed and styled propely. Make sure you get a nice style like a French or fishtail braid done.
Then see if you enjoy the experience and the results of how nice your hair looks when it's oiled propely. If you like it then get hooked on to it :-)
If not then tell your mother not to force you anymore. Ok?

In today's time when a lot of women are cutting hair and not oiling, it is nice to see that guys like oiling and want to grow hair. I welcome such thoughts. Hi everyone! Sorry for not posting anything in the past few days. I was horribly unwell. Had very high fever and was unable to eat anything. I was mostly bedridden.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't mean I skipped oiling my hair. The maid still came regularly and oiled my hair. but since I am lying in bed, she doesn't oil it heavily. So most of the oil gets absorbed in a few hours.
The only incident this week is that I lost my ear rings. I had gotten my ears pierced in college and I to this day wear studs. Just regular plain black studs which isn't very noticeable. I took it off before going to bed and couldn't find it when I woke up. The maid searched the entire apartment but couldn't find it.
I was not very bothered by it. It was very inexpensive earrings and I can easily get another pair. The maid, however, went into full panic mode and said that I need to immediately get another pair or the holes would close up. Since I don't have another pair, she said she'll get one from her daughter.
She came back in the evening with a pair of hoops. It was one of the rather big hoops (almost looks like bangles). She said it's her daughter's. She asked me to wear them while I'm home so that the holes won't close. Since I am unwell and it looks like I'm going to be at home for the next week as well, she offered to get me a pair of earrings when she goes shopping for diwali. She said she'll pick one that will suit me. I gave her Rs. 500. Let's see what she gets.

I am sure your maid will get a nice pair of earrings for you. Something which suit your long hair and styling better than studs.

Winter is coming so need to oil more and twice a day. Morning heavy after a bath and a nice light massage at night to relax and make sure hair does not dry up while sleeping.
They look very lovely, Pooja. I'm sure they'll look good with heavily oiled braided hair. I generally go to office in formals. So, I think the maid would be getting something more appropriate for that attire.

ReplyDeleteI could not post as had to leave town for urgent work. Just got back today. As I was away no oiling was done. Hair has become dry due to it. When I got back today evening, the maid was not happy to see my hair all dry and bit greasy. After dinner I was watching TV when the maid came with stool and bottle coconut oil and castor oil. A large comb was attached to her heavy oiled bun. She sat on stool and signalled to me come and sit between her legs. Then she undid my man bun and finger combed my open hair. Then after some time she took comb from her bun and combed my hair in long strokes. She combed until hair was straight and neat. Then she pulled my head up and combed and took oil and massaged the head. She took bit of oil in her fingers and massaged the scalp. Massaging felt so good. After oiling the head she took more oil and rubbed in the other part of the hair. She too her time to massage the oil. Then more oil towards the tip off the hair and she took end of the hair and rubbed it against the head and massaged. While oiling she said she is now taking control and make sure for the next few days she will do regular oiling every day. I told her now I am no e till next week so she can do what she likes. She was happy to hear it. Soon she tied a tight braid and rubbed castor oil all over it. Hair was now shiny and sticky. Then she took some scented oil a d rubbed it over the braid and put the braid in front and showed it to me. My hair really looked good and she showed me Infront of mirror and said on weekend aunty has pooja at her place and we have to go and she is doing special hairstyle for me.
Getting hair oiled was so good. What Diwali gift should I get for the maid. Any suggestion Pooja, Neetu and Sweta.

Good to hear from you Akash. Getting hair oiled always feels do good. I can just imagine the look on your face when seeing your hair finally in a nice oily shiny braid. Your face must have lit up in the mirror. You should get your maid a set of 4 iraya hair oils. They are very nice.

ReplyDeleteThe oiled braid really did look good. Oiled hair does change your personality. Do you agree Pooja? Next morning again she combed my hair and massages lot of coconut oil. She left hair open and put bobby pins in front. She then made me comb her hair and as it was already oiled, she made two buns on either side. She looked nice with two buns. Then at regular hours, she would check hair and if oil is absorbed oil more and comb it. Today aunty dropped by and gave me a nice kurta set to wear on Saturday. She too combed my hair and oiled it. I told her of the oil you told me and she said she will get 4 bottle for me. Right now I have a nice sari and earring for maid to give her. While oiling aunty said she has special surprise for me on Saturday at her house. Maid just combed and oiled my hair more.

Great Neetu. Congrats!! I am sure with regular oiling you will be first in some time. So what earings did the maid get you? You should get your hair done into a french braid one of the days. It looks super neat and stylish when your hair is properly oiled. You will get lots of compliments at work if you go like that.

ReplyDeleteI am a long hair man and I have been growing hair since last 6 years for my spiritual up liftment.
I have received spiritual advice from my master not to cut my hair and I have been following it religiously. My present hair length is 2 feet. Basically my hair is dry and frizzy and they become drier towards end and there is a problem of split ends too. But since it's a vow of not cutting hair, I can't think of any parlor for hair trim or similar action.
Instead, I apply hair oil daily. I tie my hair in bun on top of my head while bathing and then once bath is over, I thoroughly apply hair oil. I start from head and them massage it and then apply it up to the ends of the strand. Usually I apply resin oil as it is less oily but at the same time gives shine like normal coconut oil. After thoroughly applying hair oil, I comb hair with brisk strokes for 50 times and once I feel that the hairs are softening enough, I wear them into a nice and tight braid. Sometimes I wear them in a bun too.
I wash hair once in a week and before washing; on earlier night, I take oil message of castor and coconut oil mixture. I use Clinic Plus shampoo. I don’t use conditioner instead hair oil is a conditioner
I consider hair as god's gift and they help me in meditation as energy carriers, I am taking great care of my hair and when I apply oil or comb or wear them in different hairstyle, I forget myself and I feel as if I am doing it to god. I am just a namesake.
I don't apply Henna or any that sort of conditioner but thinking of doing so. Because of this regime, I am yet to see a grey strand in my hair. While meditating I wear hair in bun on top of my head and it's an antenna to receive positive energy from universe. Should hair be dry, you sense lots of heat but oiled hair act as coolant. I think, keeping long hair is a great tradition of India and taking good care of hair gives divine feeling. It changes your life. God bless

Hi! Neetu, Thanks for the advice on split ends. As you rightly mentioned, I can't trim it. However I coat them with hair oil. This makes them smooth.

Thanks for the advise. I don't think its long enough for a bun. The braids look complicated to do. But I'll try. I'm sure all I need is a bit of practice.

Great! Oiling everyday is the best thing you can do to make sure your hair grows healthy and always looks neat and sleek. If you hair is not too long, but thick then you can do a nice neat French braid. Turns out amazing when your hair is oiled heavily. You can also use a claw clip and pin up the top and leave the rest of your hair open.

ReplyDeleteGrowing up I remember having my hair heavily oiled every weekend. I used to hate it so much. During the weekdays, my hair was not oiled. School was strict about hair styles that were allowed. That meant hair can't be heavily oiled, or have flowers. So strict that even hairpins need to be specific colours or you're sent back home with a note.
My mom used to compensate for the lack of oiling during the weekdays by going overboard with the oil during the weekends. My hair used to be dripping with oil.
For about a month now, I'm thinking of regrowing my hair. Nothing super long, perhaps shoulder length or maybe a little bit longer. Any tips?
Hi Neha. It's nice to know that you're back to growing your hair. It is a lot of work compared to keeping it short(I should know. I had short hair for twenty years).
DeleteThe only tip I can give you is to oil your hair regularly. It makes a big difference.

Yes oiling daily would make a difference. You can't make your hair grow faster but oiling will make sure that your hair that grows is thick, healthy and with great texture. While its growing you can still style it really well with that slick combed back look. Would look very chick. And once it starts growing out then you can use small claw clips, hair bands and cute pony tails. Until you can finally braid. I promise you that if you oil regularly your hair will grow out nicely and you will never feel like cutting your hair short again.

Hey you must use claw clips. Useful when you keep your hair open. Just use a small claw clip in the back centre to keep the top part of your hair in place and then leave the rest of your hair open. You can oil lightly that day. And I just love the big claw clips. When I have just done my heavy oiling and I have not braided, I quickly put my hair up in a big claw clip and go about with my routine home tasks. I love using sticks in my hair too. When I have oiled heavily and put my hair into a sleek bun.

DeleteIt's the easiest thing to use and looks really nice when your hair is open and shining with oil. Just comb and gather the front hair back on both sides and then just use the clip at the back. Looks neat and cool at the same time.

Sounds great. It's fine to oil heavily when you go out as well. Once your hair is combed and braided then it doesn't really stain your clothes. Or else you can get your hair up into a nice sleek bun and use a hair stick to keep it in place. Or you can also do a nice well oiled braided bun. Looks so nice. I need to have my hair oiled till every strand is coated properly with oil from root to tip. Only then I feel good about how my styling turns out. Feels great too. Cool and nice and fragrant. My day goes well after oiling first thing after my bath in the morning. Try asking your mom to heavily oil and style your hair when your out. You will feel good about it. Trust me :-)

The maid has been oiling my hair daily in the evening for the past few weeks. And also in the moring during the weekends. Yesterday, she as usual, asked me to sit down on the stool and started oiling my hair. I had plans to meet a friend of mine for lunch so I had asked her to tie a simple bun. She came as I was getting ready. I was already dressed in my kurta so she was asked not to oil it heavily and to be careful as to not getting oil on my clothes. All I had to do was to change my earrings and I was ready to go. While she was oiling, my friend called and said she’s already on the way to the restaurant. I needed to leave immediately. The maid asked her daughter who was in my kitchen washing my utensils, to quickly come and change my earrings while she ties the bun so that I can leave immediately. The daughter asked me which earring I want to wear and I told her the black studs. She said the blue oversized studs would look better with the blue kurta I was wearing. I told her it’s a beautiful earring but it’s a bit girly for wearing it to meet a friend. She smiled and said ok and changed my ear rings.
A minute later, the maid said my bun’s done. I quickly got up and left for the restaurant. My friend had already reached by the time I got there. As soon as she saw me, she gave me a hug and we sat down at the table. She was grinning ear to ear and said my bun was cute. I said thanks and she added that so is the ear rings. She had seen the black studs I had earlier which was slightly smaller. So, I was surprised she said that. As a natural response, I touched my ear rings and said thanks. When I touched it, I realized I’m not wearing the black studs. As you probably guessed, my maid’s daughter switched the ear rings. I am wearing the blue studs.
All i could do was pretend I’m wearing it on purpose. Explaining to my friend that I was pranked by my maid’s daughter would have lead to more embarrassment. For the next ten minutes (which felt like an hour), I struggled trying to change the topic from my ear rings to something else. But she kept asking if I've got more like these. She kept asking if I have hoops, and danglers, and jhumkis.
Somehow I kept the conversation going and managed to get through lunch without too many problems.
Once she was done asking about the earrings, more doubts started popping up about my hair. Did the maid tie a generic bun or am I in for a surprise? I needed to find out if her “cute bun” comment meant my maid also played a prank on me. If I touch my hair to see if it is a regular bun, she’d find out that and will start talking about my hair and will ask me all sorts of questions so I just sat there and ate. Once the meal was done, we got up to wash our hands. In the mirror at the hand wash, I saw just for myself what she was grinning about. My large studs perfectly matched the kurta I was wearing and I had a perfect braided bun.
Hey Neetu, thanks for sharing and so well written. I am sure you must have looked amazingly cute with the nice braided bun and big blue studs. Your maid did a smart thing! She made sure she oiled your hair heavily, but followed your instructions too :) instead of leaving your braid loose on your kurta, she styled it into a nice bun!! Once your hair is oiled you have so many options to style hair. And relax it's ok to be a bit girly and try new things with your hair and other accessories as well. What's the point of having long hair if you can't style and flaunt it. Did you get the claw clips? Next time you go out oil your hair well and twist it and put a large claw clip to hold the hair in place. You can also use the nice metal snap type hair clips to keep your neatly combed front hair in place.

Nice colourful ones to match your claw clip. I would also encourage you to get a pair of hoops and wear them on your ears. It will look really chick.

Why don't you ask her for a hair oiling date? That should be great fun and she can experiment on you as well as teach you some nice styles. Does she also have long hair and does she like oiling her hair? If she does then you have lots to share with each other. It always feels good to get your hair oiled and combed by a friend while your chatting about things. And you can do the same for her. Once you get into a routine I bet the next thing you will be doing is going shopping for accessories as well!

I'm adding metal snap type hair clips to the list of things to get.
My friend is not one to heavily oil her hair. She's one of those modern girls who detest oiling her hair. But who knows? She might still be into experimenting on my hair and trying out different styles. She might even teach me a few.
Also, I'm kinda sad that no one else is posting anything. :(
Hey Neetu, great I am happy that your gonna try out new things with your hair and experiment with accessories. It will be fun. There's just so many things you can do with long hair. Specially after oiling really well as the hair is so easy to comb and style without any breakage.
ReplyDeleteYes you can convince your friend to experiment with your hair and help you try new styles. Take her shopping with you for hoops and clips. Then tell her you want her to teach you to use them. I am sure that at some point you will be able to convince her to oil your hair for you as well. Once she does that you can offer to do it for her too. It just takes one good hair massage to get hooked to hair oiling :)

DeleteHello everyone.. first time posting. i live with ym younger sister and my dad.. as been single adult women in home i take care of my younger sister.. shes in 8th grade. as per you know today's generation they don't like oiling that much.. and i really like to oil her hair and its really good for her.. but luckily as per school rule she do have to keep her hair oiled. So on monday i oil her hair very med.. amount very med. as she get very grumpy if oil is bit more.. i really have to be strict with her oiling else she just would put slight oil for school.. soo i just do casual oiling on monday. I take bit of oil in my palm rub it and apply it to her scalp.. i repeat that 3 time and thats it.. her hair get kind of med oiled. and tie 2 plaits before she got to school.. after that on tuesday she dnt allow to put any oil.. after that directly on thursday i topup with slight oil.. and thats it.. her hair condition is getting bad as teenage tend to to many crazy stuff with it.. i am planning to get more strict with her schedule.. i found this blog just wanted to add my contribution. its saturday and she already washed her hair as no school and such.. her hair length is till her mid of back.. not too long not too short..

DeleteHi Ruchi. Thanks for posting. I was just like that when I was a teenager. My mom wasn't very strict about oiling so I got away with it. Luckily no major damage was done and my hair is still quite nice. Perhaps, it would've been better if I had oiled it.

Welcome to the blog Ruchi. Yes I agree, you need to inculcate the habit of regular oiling as early as possible. She will definitely thank you later when her hair is long and lustrous. Give her a heavy oil massage on Sunday as she has kept her hair washed today. Telll her she gets one day of dry hair if she oils really well for 6 days. I am sure that after a while she will want oil in her hair all days!
